Why Power Washing Matters in Minnesota

Between winter salt and humid summers, outdoor surfaces here get dirty fast.

Siding

Humid Minnesota summers let mildew and green algae grow on shady walls, especially the north side of the house. Washing it off brings the color back.

Decks and fences

Wood turns gray and can get slippery after a few seasons of snow, rain, and fallen leaves. A wash is also the usual first step before you re-stain or seal.

Driveways, walks, and patios

Winter leaves concrete streaked with salt, sand, and tire marks, and shaded patios pick up moss and grime. A wash brightens them up again.

When to Schedule

Power washing season in the Twin Cities runs from spring thaw to the first hard freeze.

Spring

Once the snow is gone and nights stay above freezing, wash away winter salt and sand before summer.

Summer

Warm, dry days are ideal for decks and siding, and surfaces dry quickly.

Fall

Clean off the season’s grime before the first hard freeze, so it doesn’t sit under snow all winter.

Power Washing Questions

Is power washing the same as pressure washing?

People use the two names for the same thing: cleaning outdoor surfaces with pressurized water. On our site they mean the same service, and you’ll see both names.

Will it damage my siding or deck?

We adjust the pressure to the surface. Vinyl siding, painted wood, and soft deck boards get a much gentler touch than concrete, so the dirt and mildew come off and the surface stays intact.

When is the best time of year for power washing in Minnesota?

Any time the weather is above freezing, roughly spring through fall. Water left on surfaces in freezing weather turns to ice, so power washing is best done in the warmer months.

How much does it cost?

Power washing starts at $150. The price depends on what you want cleaned and how big it is. Pick “Pressure Washing” on our free quote form and you'll get a clear number. You don't pay until the job is done.
